KRD aims to foster a sustainable and equitable development by assisting communities to properly identify their development needs and match those needs with available resources (human, technical, financial, material and natural)

• Participate in the community development and meet post-conflict reconstruction needs by fulfilling the major needs of the communities that have suffered and continue to suffer diverse and numerous Vulnerabilities and inadequacies in the fulfillment of their basic needs and rights.
• Serve as a focal point for community development and transformation by partnering with local and international agencies to plan and coordinate the development efforts intended to improve the living conditions of the people.
• Facilitate genuine peace, reconciliation, behavioral change and development issue by arranging effective and continuous communication within the community and between the community and other development stakeholders.
• Improve protection of vulnerable groups from marginalization, abuse and human rights violations through the advancement of human rights and democracy.
• Promote education with special focus on girls and children with special needs.
• Promote environmental protection and address climate change issues;
• Provide appropriate and timely relief assistance to disaster affected communities and assist them to recover early and improve the productive capacity of pastoralists, agro pastoralist, farmers and fishing communities;
• Explore and introduce to disaster affected communities sustainable and disaster resilient livelihood options through building the capacity of disaster affected communities on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR);
• Promote education with special focus on girls and children with special needs; gender equality and address gender based Violence;
• Improve accessibility of clean drinking water and quality sanitation facilities and durable community physical infrastructures;
• Promote child protection, rights of children and youth development and address issues related to abuse and marginalization of children, adolescents and youth; Empower women and girls socially, economically and politically;
• Advocate for the rights of marginalized individuals and communities; Combat harmful traditional practices;
• Promote environment protection and address climate change issues;
• Promote good governance and participatory democratic institutions;
• Enhance citizen participation and accountability in the supply and demand sides; and Promote peace, dialogue and co-existence between warring communities in Gedo region.
