Somalia’s struggle with the devastating impact of climate challenges and conflict is a daily battle. Across the country, more than a million people have been displaced due to recurring drought, floods, and conflict. Dolow District in southern Somalia was among the most severely affected areas. To address this crisis, Kaalmo Relief & Development (KRD) with support from Presbyterian Church Aid USA, launched the Somalia Flood Response and Recovery Project (SOFRERP). To help rebuild livelihoods, KRD distributed dairy goats for 60 female-headed households — restoring their primary source of income. Before the livestock were given to the beneficiaries, veterinary teams ensured all livestock were healthy, vaccinated, and ready to help families recover.
