KRD is an active local humanitarian organization dedicated to provide emergency humanitarian aid and bring sustainable human development in Somalia. we work with local communities impacted by conflict, climate change, and disasters to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing in support of the vulnerable pastoral and agro pastoral communities to help them cope with both natural and man-made disasters. Our work is guided by the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.
Our primary goal is to work towards creating a future where everyone can prosper. We also aim to promote living conditions of vulnerable communities through implementing programs/projects on basic service delivery, increase economic opportunities, improve livelihood diversification, Disaster Risk reduction and climate change adaptations as well as advocacy and protection. KRD works on the basis of people centered approach through empowerment of socially disadvantaged and vulnerable communities in Somalia by addressing poverty issues and gender-based discriminations. Over the last 13 years, KRD has been running a wide range of programme interventions focusing on alleviating the suffering of drought, floods and protracted conflict affected communities. The main projects and programmes have focused on the following themes to improve the lives of the most at-risk populations in Somalia.
